This painting features a wooden drawing mannequin, a simple yet iconic object familiar to any artist. Typically posed in various ways to aid in drawing, I chose to present mine in a deliberate, almost theatrical pose, facing a spotlight. While the figure remains androgynous, I intentionally infused it with a feminine air, reflecting the performative aspects of womanhood. The piece explores how women, like the mannequin, are often objectified—posed and fixed in a way that caters to the viewer's gaze, rather than reflecting their true agency or movement.
