Growing up, flowers were a big part of my life. They were painted on all our ceramics, embroidered on pillows, and there was always a vase of fresh flowers on the dining room table. The flowers represent my grandmother. I made daisies, roses, and dahlias. Her name is Margarita, which also means daisy, roses are her favorite flower, and the dahlia is the national flower of her home country of Mexico. This sculpture is my version of the flowers on the dining room table, only these never wilt.
